2024 East Coast Grand Nationals

CARLISLE WEEKEND 2025

Team Shelby Northeast invites you to spend a relaxing weekend with us in Carlisle, PA as we celebrate the 60th birthday of the Shelby GT350 and the 427 Cobra, as well as the 60th Anniversary of Shelby American winning the FIA World Championship!

This year Carlisle will again be a stand-alone event as we will be celebrating the East Coast Grand Nationals in late July at Watkins Glen International located in the Finger Lakes area of NY.  Our Carlisle Weekend will officially begin on Friday and run through late Sunday morning.  There will be more time for visiting, walking the show field, and enjoying all the activities that the Ford Nationals at Carlisle has to offer.  We will visit the Troges Brewery on Friday morning, lead the Shelby Grand Entrance to the fairgrounds Friday afternoon, attend a dinner hosted by Carlisle Events on Friday evening, have a hospitality tent and lunch on Saturday, gather for our Team Shelby dinner on Saturday evening, host a Shelby exclusive car show, auction off items for charity, and more!

For those arriving in Carlisle on Thursday, we will unofficially kick-off our weekend with a meet & greet at Appalachian Brewing in Gettysburg where we can all meet for dinner.

Situated adjacent to one the most historic battlefields in our nation’s history, the Gettysburg brewpub offers great food, craft beer and craft soda with a unique and nostalgic setting. Steinwehr Avenue is gaining popularity in the community and Appalachian Brewing Company is proud to be part of the growth in the area. This innovative brewpub offers not only a great bar and spacious dining areas, but also outdoor patio seating as well as a “Schwemmer” walk-up beer and soda window!

Their 5 bbl. Specific Mechanical brewing system is a state of the art stainless steel brewing system capable of brewing 150 gallon batches. This system serves as their sour seasonal specialties brewery! The sours produced at ABC Gettysburg Battlefield are enjoyed here and the other ABC locations. Enjoy the many incredible specialty beers their brewers have created for you.

After enjoying dinner at the Appalachian Brewing company, and if you have the nerve, we will be taking a private walking ghost tour of the surrounding Gettysburg area.  Join us on the Black Cat tour where our guides will take you along Gettysburg’s quiet dark alleys by candlelight to locations which were active battlefields and homes of makeshift shallow graves. Grab the chance to explore cemeteries, museums and famous haunted locations! We will also explore the grim and the dark in cemeteries and haunted locations on the East Cemetery Hill.  This candlelit tour promises a thoroughly eerie experience of exploring  an orphanage and The Jennie Wade Birth House along with local cemeteries! Listen to the gruesome stories behind each of these locations and what makes them prime sights for hauntings.

Friday morning a group of us will take a drive the Hershey, PA, but not for chocolate.  We will be taking a private guided production tour of Troges Brewery, for a peek behind the curtain at how they brew, package and ship their beer. In 2020, 2022, 2023, and 2024 readers of USA Today voted it The Best Brewery Tour in America!

The production tour offers an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look into Troges brewery. Follow in the footsteps of the brewers through the mill room, hop cooler and brewhouse deck. You’ll also get a look at the fermentation cellars and packaging lines. Includes a welcome beer of your choice and an exclusive souvenir glass!

Each Production Tour guest can look forward to:

  • A welcome beer upon arrival (it may be a little early in the day, but who am I to judge)
  • A walk through the Art of Tröegs gallery
  • One souvenir glass that’s only available to tour guests
  • An up-close look at raw ingredients, including malted grain and hops
  • 3 samples of Tröegs favorites

After the tour if you are feeling a bit ‘peckish’, there is a restaurant/snack bar right at the brewery.  The cost of lunch is not included in your Team Shelby package, as it is just a recommended and convenient option for lunch.  You are free to stop anywhere for lunch that you desire.

Friday afternoon, upon return from Troges, we will lead the Shelby Grand Entrance into the Carlisle Fairgrounds and parade our cars around the show fields for all to enjoy.

Friday evening, we have been invited by Carlisle Productions and The Chip Miller Amyloidosis Foundation (CMAF) to join them in the Expo Center, for dinner and a program that will center on the 60th birthday of the Shelby GT350 and the Ford GT40. Meet special themed guests, hear the stories encompassing the development and production of both vehicles.

Guests are scheduled to include, Gary Patterson, Chuck Cantwell, John Coletti, and Steve Saleen.  Indulge with great food and drinks, participate in raffles, and enjoy a live charity auction. All proceeds from this great event directly benefit the CMAF.  Doors open at 5:00 pm, dinner begins at 6:00 pm, and the evening program is scheduled to run from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Saturday we are back at the Fair grounds to enjoy the day.  We will host lunch in our tent, have a few auction items, and pull tickets to see who our raffle winners are.

Saturday evening, we will host our dinner program and Cars Under the Stars car show at The Letort View Conference Center, located inside the historic Carlisle Barracks, home of the U.S. Army War College.  To give you some background on the significance of where we will be, Carlisle Barracks is one of our nation’s oldest military installations.  Since 1757, Carlisle Barracks has witnessed pioneering concepts in military training and education, and innovative measures to prepare for a changing world.  It is a functioning military facility, and we have been granted special permission to be on their campus.

Today, the Army War College develops the nation’s strategic leaders and the strategic ideas to guide decision-making through its wargaming center, its research and publications arm, its expert center in Peacekeeping and Stability Operations, and the Army’s premier military history archives and public military education: the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center.  Students of all the Army War College educational programs are officers of the Army and Joint Force: Navy, Marines, Air Force, and Coast Guard, active and reserve, as well as senior civilians of the federal agencies associated with national security, e.g., the Department of State.

We will also be awarding our Cars Under the Stars car show awards right at dinner this year!

Prior to dinner, you may like to take a walk along the Army Heritage Trail at the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center (USAHEC).  The one-mile Army Heritage Trail is a self-guided, outdoor interactive trail loop, highlighted by a Huey helicopter and M-18 Tank Destroyer (nicknamed the “Hellcat”) perched alongside Interstate 81. Walk along the trail, which interprets the history of the U.S. Army and discover full-scale exhibits from the French & Indian War era through current operations, and a memorial garden.

Visit the Visitor Education Center, Visitor Information Desk and Book & Gift Shop before you leave. Admission is free for the trail and the USAHEC. Sunday we make a quick stop by the fairgrounds one last time to check to see who in our group has won an award from Carlisle, walk vendor row looking for last minute items, and say goodbye to our friends until the next time…….which would be the East Coast Grand Nationals in late July!!!!
